As spring returned and nature awakened, willow branches swayed gently by the lakeside and fish rippled through the clear waters. On April 25, members and friends of A Different Key gathered at a beautiful lakeside home overlooking Morton Lake for the ADK Spring Music Salon—a warm afternoon filled with music, friendship, and shared inspiration.
The salon brought together many talented ADK members and friends, including live band performers, folk singers, classical vocalists, and pop artists. The music journey traveled across cultures and generations—from ancient Chinese poetry and traditional melodies to modern folk and contemporary songs. Some performances carried quiet philosophical reflections, while others expressed heartfelt emotions rooted in everyday life. Though different in style and expression, every song carried the same sincerity: a deep love for music and the desire to connect with others through it.

The event unfolded in two parts: accompanied vocal performances followed by live band presentations. Laughter filled the room as the host led interactive games and conversations, and by the end of the evening performers and audience members were singing familiar songs together. Music no longer belonged only to the stage—it belonged to everyone present.
The salon was further enriched by the special appearance of renowned bass vocalist Xiaoqing He. A graduate of the Opera Department of Central Conservatory of Music and a student of distinct vocal educator Xiang Shen, Mr. He has performed at many world-renowned venues, including Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall in New York City.
At the salon, he performed songs including “The Everlasting Sun Rising Over the Grassland,” moving the audience with his rich, resonant bass and expressive artistry. Beyond the performance itself, he generously shared his innovative “3D” vocal concept, speaking about how singers can create a fuller and more dimensional sound. Afterward, he stayed to exchange ideas and offer guidance to ADK members, turning the afternoon into not only a performance, but also a Master coaching class.
